 No
matter their setting, flowers have always brought joy to my psyche. They have surrounded my life since very early
childhood when I became exposed to them on a daily basis in my father’s greenhouse business in Trenton, Ontario,
Canada. There were always bouquets of flowers or flowering plants in our home. As I grew into my teen years, I
spent many hours working among the flowers both in the greenhouses and in the lovely gardens that surrounded our
home.
Spring
has always been a favourite time of year as it means observing new plant life develop through its various stages.
During those teen age years, I especially enjoyed the wildflower displays that appeared each spring in the wooded
areas near my home. Throughout my adult life, spring has not only beckoned me to nearby woodlands but to my own
hobby garden which has provided endless pleasure and satisfaction.
Before
retiring from a teaching career and moving to Guelph, Ontario eight years ago, I gardened for twenty–eight years
in Fort Frances, in northwestern Ontario. This garden presented its own challenges with its zone 2b climate as
compared to my present zone 5b garden. This newest garden has provided many new learning experiences with the introduction
of unfamiliar perennials. In addition, as a volunteer with the University of Guelph’s Arboretum Auxiliary there
have been many opportunities to observe and enjoy an endless array of blossoms from spring to autumn.
During
travels that have taken my husband Alvin and me to the four corners of the world, I have always been on the lookout
for ’pretty blossoms’ that can be photographed. I have been lucky to have Alvin for technical support. As a result
of the many photographs we have taken, I have become more intrigued with not only the colour and shapes of flowers
but the wonderful patterns and textures that nature has designed for a purpose deep within the flower’s blossom.
I hope the photographs that you buy from this website will brighten your homes and your lives.
 Sincerely,
 Marg
